Something Unexpected...

As many of you know my family has had a rough few months with everything going on with my Dad. He is doing so much better, it really is a blessing. He is still hobbling around on his crutches, slipping down a couple stairs every now and then. But mostly everything at this point is looking up. He has his spirits back, you can still tell he has a lot of pain but we are all so grateful he is still here with us for Christmas.
Surprises seem to be the theme this year. From this with my Dad, to Jonathan and I announcing we were getting married. We should have known that just because it is December doesn't mean the surprises would stop. My Dad wasn't planning on attending the annual Logan Fire Christmas party, but a lot of the guys talked him into it. So he crutched his way out the door to go. Every year they award men with different awards for the year. And last they award The Firefighter of The Year Award. It was a huge shock for me to walk into my parents house as see it siting on the kitchen table. I am so proud of him. My Dad is and always has been my Hero, I have always looked up to him. He never gives up, and these past few months that trait he has, to never give up, saved his life. This is his Fire Fighter Of The Year Plaque

Love you Dad... So proud of you!

Family And Memories Make The Holidays....

Last weekend Jonathan had the opportunity to Baptise the cutest little girl. Her name is Rio, she is a close family friend. Jon was honored to have been asked! He loved every minute of it. She was actually the first child he has ever baptised, he always had the adults on his mission while his companions usually took the children. Kind of funny. She was so excited!
This weekend Ariell, who will be marrying Spencer in a couple weeks, came up for Paul and Gwendolyn show, Then the whole lot of us went to IHOP for dinner. It was so much fun!! Ariell was able to bring Spencer's girls, as well as her own two kids Adi and Kaden. So we were able to finally meet the whole family! Jonathan totally took to Kaden, He decided they were going to be little buddies. They all make such a cute family!
Jonathan went and cut down a tree for our first Christmas tree! I was so excited to get it up!! I had all the perfect things to put on it, Black ribbon (because Jon had to have black on it) silver and blue bulbs, glittered black snowflakes, and a silver tree skirt that of course matched our stockings. The stockings would be hung over the fire place on what else but black snow flake hooks that would match the snow flakes on the tree (minus the glitter). I couldn't wait to get it up. I have always been the one to decorate the tree! I was always perfect.. Big beautiful green trees with different arrangements of color each year for my parents, and I was always the mastermind behind the picture perfect trees. I was sure this one would be the same.
Well, when you go cut your own tree down.. it doesn't quite have the same... demand for attention that farmed or fake trees have. We finally got it up in the house and Jon looked at it, then looked at me and said "Hmmm... Ugly tree Chels, lets put the crap on it." Then while we laughed at it for a bit.. He asked "How long do we have to leave this up?" It is the perfect Charlie Brown tree. That is the only way to put it. So we did the best to place the lights, ribbon, and bulbs on it. But how do you decorate a tree that hardly has branches!! This is what came of it!

We were talking about it, and this tree is actually the perfect tree for our first Christmas together. We know it's not about the fullest, greenest, and most perfect tree. It's about being together as a family. Our Charlie Brown tree helped us make a perfect memory! After putting up our AWESOME tree we finished our night with a Hot Cocoa date. Jonathan found this HUGE mug. Even bigger than the soup mugs.. and he made a big cup of Hot Cocoa, we went and sat in front of our tree while sharing our GIANT cup of Hot Cocoa. Definitely a fun little date to share a warm cup this time of year. I would recommend it to anyone!

Just A Quick Note...

Jonathan was able to talk with his brother Spencer today for the first time since he left for basic. They talked for about an hour about EVERYTHING! I heard tid bits about things from his wedding coming up to the regular jeep talk. You all should have seen Jon's face when I passed him his phone and said, "Hey, Spencer's calling." He got this adorable little grin on his face. You could totally tell he was so excited to talk to his brother. He really misses him, and is so excited to see him in a couple weeks for his wedding! We miss you Spenc! Thanks for everything you are doing!!

Memories In The Making...

Jonathan and I are so excited for the holidays!!! We have started pulling out the Christmas decorations and buying lights for the house. Of course they won't be put up or at least lit until after Thanksgiving. But all the same we are so excited to get everything up!
Jon has been so much fun, my Mom has let him in on a little hint, that I happen to be a bit of a snoop when it comes to Christmas, so he has gifts hidden not only out of the house.. but all over town. That's right he has hidden the gifts at different peoples house, one gift per house and not in a house I go to often. I have to say.. I'm pretty impressed.

Tonight Jonathan wanted to dinner.. that usually mean some kind of take-out. Which is fine, It doesn't bother me. But tonight he came in and said "Chels, you are going to kill me. I'll be back." And he locked the door open and walked back outside. Then he walked back in the door with two full bags of Chinese.
"They messed up the order." was the first thing that came from his mouth as he walked in the door. I could help but laugh as he started unloading the dinner he has slaved over. You know the size of the to go boxes, the big ones. Well... We had four of them.. Four different meats, two full things of rice, 7 or 8 ragoons, 4 egg rolls, a pint of soup, and 9 fortune cookies. He said he knew the "price was a little much." I just laughed and kept laughing for a few minutes. We had our very own Chinese Thanksgiving at our house tonight!! Love that boy!

Time Is Flying...

So many things are happening right now. It seems that Jon and I never have a chance to take a breath. But I love it!! We have two wedding coming up in December! I am so excited for both of them! The first is on December 23rd. Jonathan's brother Spencer will be marrying Ariell. She is so much fun! She has two kids, and from the pictures I have seen their little family is so adorable together. Spencer has been away to Basic so Ariell has been putting together the wedding. What a great deal for him. He gets married and and doesn't have to deal with all the pre-wedding things! The second wedding is on December 29th, my cousin Toni (who you have seen in earlier blog posts and pictures) will be married to Marc. I am so excited for these two!! I can't wait to get to see pictures of her in her dress!! Its beautiful! So classic but at the same time very trendy!! I love it!
Jon and I have been doing the usual, work and he is waiting for classes to start back up. He has really loved working at the hospital. You can tell he really loves the medical field! He has been doing a lot of four A.M. shifts which haven't been bothering him at all. I don't know how he does it. Three or four days a week he works the regular eight to ten hours shifts and LRH, then heads up to USU to work another four and sometimes six hour shift. He is my superman.. cheesy.. oh well. Don't think he doesn't get tired though. Some nights he is beat! Like last night.. You know when little kids fall asleep eating, and you can't help but laugh at them. Well I have one up those cute little munchkins! I hope I don't offend anyone by telling this.. But it just has to be told! So I will say sorry in advance.. just to be safe!
Anyway.. Back to my story.. Last night Jon started to say our prayer before bed. It started...

Jonathan: "Our dear kind Heavenly Father, We thank thee for this day. And all the blessings you.."
I paused.. Waited.. Then opened my eyes to see him PASSED OUT!!
Me: "Jon? Are you asleep? Did you really just fall asleep in the middle of your prayer?"
Jonathan: "Oh... Father I'm sorry.. We thank thee for all the blessing you have given to us. "
The prayer went on and I thought we were in the clear... He was going to make it! I was sure of it! Then...
"and Father, Please bless Chelsea will get those papers in on time. Amen"
Me: "Jon? What papers do I need to get in?"
Jonathan: "What? I don't know what you're talking about?"
Me: "Well you better figure it out and let me know when you do, cause you just prayed for it."
Then he looked at me bewildered for a moment.. and giggled and said
"He understands me." and rolled over and fell right to sleep.

I LOVE THAT BOY!! He keeps me laughing even when he is sleeping.

It kind of makes me wonder.. Has anyone else had this or something similar (conversations with sleeping people) happen to them? Let us know!!

More Pumkin Walk...

At the Pumpkin Walk Toni, Marc, Jon and I played with the cut outs.. the kids had nothin' on us!!

Phlebs, Pumkins, and Dates...

So many things have happened!! To start off Jonathan came home from work today and wanted to go out on a date. He was totally cute about it. We got ready and he kept repeating it as a date and thanking me for going with him, like when we were dating. We went to Texas Roadhouse, and it reminded us why we don't go out on Saturday nights! The place was packed and it took over an hour to be seated! Then he brought be home and we watch The Proposal, after the movie he gave me a hug and said "Thank you for going out with me." then casually turned his head and BELCHED... and we were back to good old being married. I love him, and I couldn't stop laughing, but YUCK!!
Jon and I carved our pumpkins this last week! We started carving with one of those carving knifes. But Jon thought he needed a "Man Knife". Well guess what, yep.. Jon broke my knife.. Guess he was a little too much Man for the knife!
Jonathan was offered a PRN job at the hospital as a Phleb!! We are so excited for him to start there on Monday! It will be interesting to see how it goes the days he works downstairs and we work together.
Last night Jon and I went to the Pumpkin Walk. It was a lot of fun! I had never been before.
