Jon and I were trying to figure out how to fit something "fun" in our busy schedules for our anniversary this year. Then after worrying about it we realized we were making it more stressful then it had to be. We decided to just spend it together and get our crap done. For lack of better words. So I got up, went to my extra long.. half day of work. Then went to run a couple "quick" errands.
First I went to get a state inspection done on my car. Super fun! My 30 min, 17 dollar trip quickly turned into a 3 hour, 330 dollar trip after he came out to tell me my front breaks and tires were gone. Beautiful.
Three hours later I ran my rings in for some repairs, then grabbed some grub at Costa Vida for Jon and I. (Yeah we really splurged huh... we did on the car)
When I got home we sat down ate our late lunch and talked. Then got all gussied up in our grubbiest clothes and went out to work on the fence. Yep. After a couple posts and a few hours, we called it quits and I went in to make a now late dinner. While I made dinner Jon ran and got us "Anniversary Slurpees". (another Splurge alert) Then we ate dinner, had slurpees, and talked to our hearts content.
Not really what we thought we would be doing for our Anniversary, or how we thought we thought we would spend our Anniversary money. But I'll be honest, with how much running around we both have been doing I really enjoyed how low key it was. Aside from both of us being a little ornery while working on the fence. (we always get ornery while working on the fence, there's just something about it)
I loved just hanging out with him. Not going somewhere pretending to do all that gooey crap, it was just real. How we are, and how our life together is. Crazy and unpredictable. Being able to enjoy a small cherry slurpee after working in the hot sun. It was simple, and happy.
Now... I need to go start planning next years BIG anniversary. ;)

Midas meets Gunner
Midas loves Gunner. At night after Gunner heads to bed with Ariell Midas has to walk around three or four times before he will settle in. He really loves having friend around.

But he also really loves his toys. He normally shared pretty well. But he was laying on three or four and wouldn't let Gunner at any of them.

We tried for so long to get a picture of Gunner smiling. And TA-DA!!!! Smiling Gunner!!

Man Time
Recently Jon decided he needed a Mohawk.... So after ignoring it for a couple months I finally gave in when he came in and said "Mohawk, tonight!". We toned it down for work, kept the sides a little longer, took the back off so it was work appropriate. But make no mistake it is shaved into a Mohawk.
When our nephew Kaden came to visit Jon and Kade decided they would shave Kade's into a Mohawk too! Kaden wanted "a half mohawk and half not Mohawk" just like uncle Jonathan. So the boys went to work...

Getting started, yes Jon did man handle the poor boy bit. He was constantly holding Kade's head where he wanted it. So most pictures we got have Jon's hand in the way.

I made him undo his Kung Fu grip for this picture. You can tell he is ready to snap back at any second!

Cheeser!!! Then, wait for it... Finished product with the two of them and their awesome Mohawks.

Snacky-snack
Jon and I have really loved eggs and toast lately. We have it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, linner, and dinner! Okay maybe not that often. But we have been a bit addicted lately. It makes me laugh when we both want them our own way. We get out our own pans, stand together at the stove and chat while we both cook. I'll bet you can't tell which is mine and which is his.

It has actually become a great bonding time. We talk about everything over eggs. Isn't it funny how even if you alone with someone doing some together can get all sorts of conversations going. I love him. A wee bit.

Mother's Day
I have been thinking how to write about mother's day this year. While I love my mother and think she us above any other that could possibly be found out there, I found myself sneaking away to take moments. I know how selfish that sounds. But if I'm going to be honest to myself and to what a write here, I need to share how there were hard moments. Small things that were said; that met nothing to people around and normally would mean nothing to me. No worries, I wasn't some dork sulking in a corner. There were only a few times I slipped away and I'm sure no one even noticed. Which in my opinion is a good thing. I just needed a few times to gather myself. And remember how lucky I am to have the mother I have. After I lost the baby my mom said "I can't understand how this feels for you, but I know when one finally makes it to you; this experience will make it that much sweeter.". I know she's right. I love mine and am so grateful for her. And for those of you wondering, no we are not planning on one any time soon. We want to focus on the new house and getting things together. Just take time would be the best way to put it, I think.
Jon was so sweet. He had a gift waiting for me Mother's Day morning. It was a willow tree figurine with a woman holding a baby. You may think this would be a sad reminder, but then he said he thought the title was perfect. And it was. "Angel of Mine". Just perfect.

Under the title it reads "So loved, so very loved."

I have a sister that is a doll, she is always sending me little notes or quotes when she finds ones she thinks I might like. She sent me this poem for Mother's day. It really touched me, so I'm going to leave you all with it. Thanks Ariell. Love you.
Am I Not A Mother?

Am I not a mother
On this Mother's Day?
I had a baby, but she's gone.
Death took her away.
Hopes and dreams have vanished
a happy time turned cold.
My motherhood-where is it now?
Gone? Or put on hold?
Am I not a mother
even though my child died?
Does anyone know my heartbreak
or the anguish felt inside?
Special gifts and flowers
but who'll remember me?
As I stand and shed some tears
at your graveside where I'll be.
Mother's Day-so painful
but I will make it through.
Yes, I am a mother!
but God takes care of you.

Poor People Food #2
Jon read my last post and said I made him sound like a "rear" (we'll just leave it at that) I told him I didn't make him sound like anything... That's just how he sounded :/. So for the sake of him... He only thinks bags a potatoes are "poor people food". Now with that said, lets hope I'm not back again tomorrow to revise him again. I love him.

Poor people food
Before the house Jon and I were in grocery heaven! We wanted ice cream, we got ice cream. We wanted cookies, why not! Cookies it is!! Heck grab two! Steaks tonight? No, how about crab legs! Alas, after we have settled into our mortgage payment, and a tighter budget. We have been seeing lots of this...

Or what Jon calls "poor people food". Potatoes, eggs, ground beef, and a few other things. One thing that can not be given up however, is the sharp cheddar Tillamook cheese. It's Tillamook people! Not that we didn't have these things before. We just see more of them these days. Do you know how many things you can do with potatoes! Anyway, have any budget friendly dinners? Please share. Jon isn't loving the repeats.
